Nomination Process

Nomination Process

To be considered for one of the award categories an entry must be received before the deadline Thursday, November 8, 2018. Entries are submitted online through the Nomination Forms for BMA of Rochester Awards consideration. The nomination process is outlined below:

Step One: Nomination

First, the nominator must submit the online nomination by the initial nomination deadline Thursday, November 8, 2018. Nominations may be submitted by any person familiar with the nominee and his or their work. If you’re eligible, you can submit yourself for consideration.

Incomplete nomination forms will not be considered. Nominators are asked to compile as much information about the nominee that best illustrates why they should be chosen for a particular award.

Entries that meet all eligibility requirements are then voted on by the BMA Award’s Selection Committee Members, and the results of that vote are the nominations.

Step Two: First Round of Voting

Round One of voting will be done by members of the six nominating committees: Arts & Culture Category; Public Service Category; Community Professional Category; Individual Community Impact Category; Organizational Community Impact Category; and Champion Awards Category. Members of the Selection Committee are picked at random to be a part of one of the six nominating committees each year. Based on the criteria for each award the Top 5 candidates will be selected. All decisions will be based upon the rating scale created to ensure that all winners exemplify excellence in their respective categories.

All nominations will be reviewed at the end of the nomination period. Only registered Selection Committee Members will receive First Round voting packets and ballots. All voting is done independently and not in conjunction with other members.

Step Three: Second Round Voting

Round Two of voting will be done by members of the six nominating committees: Arts & Culture Category; Public Service Category; Community Professional Category; Individual Community Impact Category; Organizational Community Impact Category; and Champion Awards Category. Members of the Selection Committee are picked at random to be a part of one of the six nominating committees each year. Based on the criteria for each award the Top 3 candidates will be selected. All decisions will be based upon the rating scale created to ensure that all winners exemplify excellence in their respective categories.

All nominations will be reviewed at the end of the First Round. Only registered Selection Committee Members will receive Second Round voting packets and ballots. All voting is done independently and not in conjunction with other members.

After this round the Top 3 Nominees in all award categories will be announced at a press conference in December.

Step Four: Final Voting Begins

Final voting will be done by all Selection Committee Members. Each member will vote on ONE nominee in ALL award categories. Based on the criteria for award the Top Candidate will be selected. All decisions will be based upon the rating scale created to ensure that all winners exemplify excellence in their respective categories. In the event of a tie, the Board of Governors will be convened to cast the deciding votes.

Awardees will NOT be notified of their win until the Annual BMA of Rochester Awards Black Tie Gala.
